Dr. Philip J. Klotzbach's April Forecast: what to expect

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:56 am

In December '07 the forecast was 13/7/3 and by this Tuesday I don't expect much of a change.

What do you think?

I think we will see a slight increase in the April forecast, as the oceans are really getting warm. 14/8/3 or 4

Sounds like they are setting the stage to raise the numbers.

Almost always they start increasing the numbers as the season gets closer. Then, it bites them in the back!

"Also, the sea surface temperatures in the eastern Atlantic particularly off Iberia and off northwest Africa, they are very warm, much like they were at this time in 1995 and 2005 when we had very active seasons," he said.

Yes, I found that statement interesting as well. I took a look and its a big big difference over last year in regards to SST'S in the Eastern Atlantic

Yeah, no comparison at all to the SST of '05, not unless he is also refering to the fact that the Azores high is weaker than the last couple of years and windshear is already running below average in the tropical Atlantic.

I was a little surprised they went for what they did in thier last forecast, I suspect they will just raise everything by 1, maybe raise NS upto 15 or something like that.
