EPAC Is Making Me Jealous!

#1 Postby Blown Away » Sun Jun 29, 2008 7:04 pm

I enjoy tracking storms across the globe, but there is nothing better than tracking storms in the Atlantic basin. Maybe we will get one in July, but deep down I know we will have to wait for August.

The current MJO and ULL setup favors the EPAC. But it's not unusual to see the EPAC fire up like this early in the season.

Well I have a feeling some other members are feeling the same. Still its only June. Atlantic peak is still just under 2.5 months away and the synoptic setup has plenty of time to change between now and then (unfortunately).

It's part of the obsession, an active EPAC and the afternoon summer thunder storms signals the Atlantic is almost ready to get going and that gets me fired up.

I sadly check the Atlantic Basin satellites daily to no avail.

I can think of at least 50,000 things better but I understand what you are saying.

i have no problems watching the storms form in the pacific. usually, there's less opportunity for landfalls.

Funny you say that because I have gotten over thinking I could be more prodcutive with the few moments I spend daily watching weather. I realized while others are smoking cigarettes, drinking, texting, and surfing the web, I'm watching weather, this gives me a few minutes of peace each day. I still have an overload of reality with the wife, 3 kids, job, house, etc. :D

Maybe the recent burst of activity in the EPAC is a sign of things to come in the Atlantic during the next week or so.

Late June in the EPAC is like mid to late July in the Atlantic. It is usually dead by October in the EPAC except in El Nino years.

Don't blame yourself. Most of the "attention" devoted to "potential" areas during this time of the year is a tremendous waste of time and strenuous energy.
