Climate Change = stronger hurricanes and stronger kidney sto

#1 Postby funster » Wed Jul 16, 2008 7:03 pm

Everyone knows global warming is helping to fuel more powerful hurricanes but it also fueling more kidney stones. Yikes - we all better up our water intake. Those things are painful and the scientists aren't kidding.

I had to laugh at first, but, my Dad had his share of them (my brother, too), and they told us just how very painful it is to pass a stone, so, as the Doctors used to tell me during my volunteer days in the ER - if you urine looks dark, then, you need to drink more fluids (coffee, beer or coke doesn't count, since that'll make a person lose more fluids - especially coffee or beer) - water is usually good enough during normal activities...

But, if your urine is very light in color, then, you're probably hydrated enough for the moment...

Also, many don't know this, but, appendicitis often happens because a person didn't have enough fiber in their diet - a low fiber ("junk food") diet causes soft material to remain in the intestine, and, can cause inflammation and infection...

So, as the old saying goes, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" - so true...

True, it should probably be moved to the off-topic forum, but, it is an interesting article, so, not of the "UFO" quality of some other topics...
