A Break After Ike?

#1 Postby ConvergenceZone » Sat Sep 06, 2008 11:25 am

Since Josephene(or however ya spell her) is no longer an issue, perhaps we will get a much deserved break after Ike...We sure need it....I'm really hoping that this year will be one of those years there everything just slows down all the sudden, and perhaps the peak of the season will end earlier than normal....I know that's unpredictable, but I'm hoping for it anyway.

It's quite classic to have a busy period at the beginning of september, and then a 10 days break. If you look at what we have behind Ike or Josephine, you have NOTHING. Of course, things can change and some blob can develop in the Carribean. But I won't be surprised if we have to wait before another storm.
Now, we're 5 days or more before Ike final landfall and everything can happen before that.

Let's pray for one - everyone at work is getting very stressed.

This morning, I walked into Walgreens to find two men arguing over how one parked in the parking lot (too close to the other's car), so, the stress is getting to everyone...

I once heard that it's the "on and off" type of stress that is a bad thing, since, just when one crisis ends, another (storm) begins...

Let's pray for an early end to the season - don't think anyone would mind ('cept for a few here)...

Frank

Well I don't pray for an early end, I pray for more recurves however Frank!

Seriously Ike in any other season bar 2007 would have been a fish, just so happens this is one of the strongest ridges we've seen in this part of the world at this time with a TC just being in the right place at the right time...what bad luck is that...

KWT, I totally agree with you, the ridge is what's preventing these recurves...Usually you don't see these waves/storms making it across the Atlantic like this so easily. Recurves are fun when they are long trackers...There's nothing more beautiful than seeing a CAT 4 or 5 buzzsawing through the open Atlantic with no land to worry about....

My personal fav in terms of recurving systems in recent years was Karl 2004, though even that hit Iceland so thats not a true fish per say :P

Just saying goodbye to Hanna and setting up my new computer, ran across this photo. This was on 18 Sept, 2003, it was right on top of us at this point. I think she was a very beautiful storm! Don't know if the season is over for us or not. We've been so lucky the last few years, so I say not! I have a 14 meg version of this photo, the detail is amazing.

I know I can use the break, I don't want to see anymore storms for awhile hurt anyone, especially the people in Haiti.

Besides Ike there is very little or nothing out in the Atlantic. Anything that develops in the E Atlantic would be 14 days away, so the chances of a system affecting the EC from the east are getting very low now that Ike has passed to the south.
