It really depends on how you define the word "dud"...from a psycho crazy weather enthusiast(like some of us here), then yes, it has been a "dud" but from a victim's standpoint, then it's a "blessing"....
I do think that perhaps 1 or 2 more storms may come our way, but the conditions for storms to form are worsening as we speak, and if they aren't able to form during the peak of the season, I sure don't expect them to form over the next two months.
Just think though, next year at this time it might be the complete opposite of this year.
Hurricane season has been a dud

Re: Hurricane season has been a dud
El Niño continues to keep hurricanes away from Florida ... for now
and a note that
That shear, along with steering currents pushing north, is responsible for either turning or breaking up most of the season's six named Atlantic storms.
With 2 ½ months left in this year's hurricane season, we have no reason to think the Atlantic wind shear will die anytime soon. In fact, meteorologists expect the weak to moderate El Niño to last through the winter.
and a note that
Clay, like the other forecasters, thinks the El Niño will continue to keep things slow and quiet.
But it's no guarantee.
The 2004 hurricane season was an El Niño year.
