This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Whatever it's, the shear is hammering it down.

What are you talking about, why the "yikes"? Are you seeing something I am not?

Strong wind shear just about everywhere, with nothing that stands much of a chance of developing this week, I'd suspect.

I think we need to move on passed the 2009 season.I'm looking forward to cooler temps this winter and more storms to track in 2010.

i agreee with the major cold front coming down and the shear I really do think the season is over. I am turning my attention to the winter storms and to the 2010 season. Fall and Winter are around the corner. I am beginning to think we may not have amy more storms-the tropics look like like november not late september.

Though the Caribbean area is negative this feature does resemble a monsoon trough-like feature from which cyclones have formed before:

Didn't some models depict development mid to late week in this area?

It was only a joke... :ggreen: The forum has been a little slow for a while!
I had just opened my eyes and checked the satellites to see a new blob of interest. I realize the shear will not allow this to develop, however there was some talk last week of something possibly being in the Caribbean mid to late week.

Based on my knowledge- the shear is very high and basically should prohibit
development at least for the next 5 days.

End part of trough convecting in southern Gulf. Probably nothing to it.

Cold front descended. 81* with low humidity actually felt slightly chilly. Goes to show what acclimation can do as far as feel.

Shear is forecast to drop dramatically in about 72 hours from current levels in the Gulf and NW Caribbean (far right panel on 2nd row is 72-hour forecast)

There is some convection south of Jamaica that caught my eye this morning. After my bike ride I will investigate further if it persists.

There is a tropical wave passing south of Jamaica that is causing some convection.

Looks shear-induced to me.
