When α will form?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

When α will form?

#1 Postby arkestra » Sat May 29, 2010 2:41 pm

Some forecasts predict more than 21 storms this season. Question here:

For Atlantic hurricane season 2010, when do you think letter α (Alpha) will be used (again)?

1. Not in 2010
2. Before October 22 (beating 2005)
3. Between October 23nd and November 22nd
4. Between November 23nd (when Delta 2005 formed) and December 30th
5. On December 31th (beating Zeta 2005 and Alice 1953 for latest cyclone of a season)

3. I think Central America bears the brunt of this season along with the Yucatan and the fish of the North Atlantic.

In no way do I see us reaching the greek alphabet again. That was rare and it might be 100 years before we see that again.

No alpha .What happened in 2005 was a once in a lifetime occurence. I think we could easily make it to the letter R storm

No, I don't think we'll reach an alpha storm this season.

I'd be very surprised if we get to Alpha, still that being said conditions in the N.hemisphere may not be far off from what is needed to get to those numbers...so whilst very unlikely, it can't totally be ruled out.

I doubt we'll get 22 storms (or more) this season, so no Alpha.

Will not be used in 2010. Season may be above average, but not close to 2005.
