Actually it is kind of odd that it's so quiet. This should be the peak of the Southern Hemisphere season.

Yep, it's pretty quiet. Last year, for example, unisys shows 4 cyclones in March in the SPO and 4 in the SIO. Both have had none in the 8 days of March, 2010. I guess the second half of the month should be active.

I think its amazing this thread is still around.. lol I started it simply for a brief moment last year when a satellite image showed the ITCZ as a near perfect straight line across the entire MDR. but hey none the less worldwide it has been pretty quiet..

No storms worldwide since Sean died out on April 25, looks like we're in transition from one hemisphere to the other. Statistically the 1st EPAC storm should form before the month ends.
