How do I use the Dvorak Technique?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

How do I use the Dvorak Technique?

#1 Postby year_2005 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 7:36 pm

Ok I could easily tell the difference between a cat 4-5 and a tropical storm or category 1 by a glance at the sattelite , as would most people who don't have any knowledge about storms. However I am curious about how to make a good estimate of intensity with satellite images via the Dvorak technique. I am shocked about how little information a google search turned up, I saw a slide show in one of the results that gave a good idea of it but it did not give a complete explanation.

Worth noting though that the tecnique isn't exactly meant for amateur forecasters to execute; it's for the trained guys as some discretion is needed, like with the constraints and breaking of them.
