Observations et al from our friends in Bermuda

#1 Postby artist » Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:53 am

Please let us know what Colin brings your way. Fortunately, he is not too strong, and I know you guys are probably one of the best prepared architecturally for cyclones in the world. Just know we have you in our good thoughts as this heads your way.

Here is the rainbow off our balcony. Your can see the sky starting to look a bit murky in the distance.

Just got home from work. Stopped at grocery store to pick up som essentials (read ice cream). It wasnt too busy and no one seemed too fussed. However, upon arriving home I could see the ocean very well and it is already churned up and gaining that audible "roar". Wind picking up mildly and there is a rainbow off in the distance. One of my daughters toys is already blowing around the balcony area. So far husband is calm. I think I have bought enough ice cream to lull him into a sugar coma.

Mostly sunny skies here this AM. I expect conditions to deteriorate this evening. We are expecting 3-5 inches of rain (No complaints there). Colin supposed to pass just to our west but a slight deviation could send him straight over us. Co-workers talking about going home tonight and securing all of their out doors items. I got my e-reader charging (still no sign of Blackberry) and im lining up a weekend of snacks.

Woke up this AM to some rain... it has since cleared and is now sunny and very humid with a decent breeze. Went to town for coffee. It was pretty dead and by the time I left the Louis Vuitton shop on Front St had boarded up (damn! I have no looting tendencies but if I did it would involve LV). I also stopped at Gosling liquor shop ... one must be prepared you know. A few $$$$ later I was on the road. On the drive home I saw workers hanging BEACH CLOSED signs at all the entrances. We are going to head down to the beach now and take some pics. Will post upon return.
