5 PM Fabian is born

#1 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Thu Aug 28, 2003 3:42 pm

Tropical Storm Fabian is centered at 15.2 N 39.2 W or 1000 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands. Maximum sustained winds are 45 mph. Movement is west at 22 mph. Barometric Pressure is 1004 mb or 29.65 inches of mercury.

Forecast suggest Fabian could be a hurricane as it nears the northern Leeward Islands. Areas from St Croix into the US and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico need to monitor the progress of this potentially dangerous system. Official forecast suggest 80 mph winds as this system moves over the northern Lesser Antillies or just north of there. But it could be stronger than that, stay tuned!
