I hear that..It's gonna be 4-5 days before both systems Might be gone and of course there will be another wave to discuss durring peak week. Looks like a good forecast for TD12.

(cool edit works!)..even twice.lol

Derek - good update. Looks like you see TD 12 becoming a weak to moderate TS before landfall. Agreed that things are pretty active in the Atlantic right now!

Question about TD 12/Henri...

#5 Postby Josephine96 » Wed Sep 03, 2003 9:34 pm

How strong of a TS would he have to be to spike up the tornado threat once he makes landfall.. I know in 2001 when Gabrielle came on shore and blasted Central Florida, she put 3 warnings out for Brevard {2 confirmed touchdowns} and 1 for Osceola...

I'm just curious of this.. cause Gabby was a borderline hurricane.. Would Henri have to find a way to get that strong to increase the twister threat.. or would a 45-50 mph tropical storm do it..

Any landfalling tropical cyclone is a tornado threat, especially in cases of high shear at the time of landfall

That's true. One of the local (Orlando) meteorologists mentioned that there is a chance for tornadoes across the Florida peninsula with this system.

The latest wind shear maps indicate low shear across Florida. As of this moment the northeastern portion of Florida as the "highest shear."
