The general pattern that had set up this year really favored an East Coast hit for some time, until the persistent EC trough set up for a few weeks. Had Fabian developed 3 days earlier, the EC would have had a problem with Fabian. Fortunately, this time, a large trough, combined with the remnants of Grace, and the current Tropical Depression #12 set up a timely roadblock for Fabian to be shunted away from the East Coast. Unfortunately, this is a bad scenario for Bermuda.
Anyway, don't let your guard down because the general flow pattern more than not as favored that a potential storm could have impacted the East Coast and now with the heart of the Hurricane Season upon us, because the general flow pattern could become once again more favorable for an EC threat. It's all about timing.... and no one should let their guard down and that includes the GOM as well.
