Isabel IS a hurricane and HAS started her northward climb

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Isabel IS a hurricane and HAS started her northward climb

#1 Postby Renata » Sun Sep 07, 2003 9:44 am

That is per the 11 am advisory and discussion from the National Hurricane Center.

I knew my eyes were not deceiving me.

Renata, would you settle for "has added a slight northward component to her westward movement"??

it may be alittle north but it isnt going very far north for at least 7 days as NHC mentions ridge building west in time...no surprise in the wake of fabian with high building back in...this thing looks a shoe in for at least the SE bahamas and looks to scare florida at least and maybe more.

Yes jfaul, and let's hope that Isabel only scares them and does not touch them.

Yes to all the above. More anxious moments coming up for Floridians -- who have been incredibly lucky so far this season.

Especially Floyd since Floyd has winds of 155 mph while in the Bahamas (not far from florida) and Floyd was massive in area.

Nah, that would be conservative. It is not just slight. It is dramatic. It is not just jumping around as in the eye reforming, either. If you look at the loops it is a sharp continuous NW movement and I don't expect her to plateau just as yet.

I don't see her brushing the islands at all.

Of course, crow could be on the menu and with the right amount of black pepper, it is tolerable :D

It is moving WNW or maybe NW, but I do not agree it is as dramatic as you make it seem, JMO.

Forgive me for being off topic, but I had to respond to the beautiful BAMA sign on your post! Roll Tide! I am an alumnus; are you? Let's hope the storms stay away from Gulf Shores!!

Georges did NOT spare Florida. Key West is a part of Florida and parts from Marathon, south were devestated.

Florida is not due for a major hurricane. Georges, while not a major, was a cat 2 strike on the east coast, which has been a rarity since 1960
