1928 Hurricane

#1 Postby Vortex » Sun Sep 07, 2003 5:25 pm

hit PR very hard and the SE Fl. Also travelleved just about due west from 40w to 60w along or slightly N of the 15th parrallel. The conditions have to be just right for a due west heading for any length of time once North of 15....FYI The Great Hurricane of 28 also formed on 9-6.

San Felipe II!! That's how we called it here. This hurricane afected us on September 13, 1928 and was our last cat.5 hurricane until this moment.

Cycloman.

Vortex, how about the 1935 (I think that's the date) 'Cane that virtually wiped out the Florida Keys? Tore up the old Seaboard Coastline Railroad and killed untold number of people, including many military troops. Do you know its origin?

Thanks Rainband! Quick work there. That was definitely one of the worst in recorded history (excepting Galvaston), in terms of lives lost and damage.
