Is it likely????????
That North Carolina will be hit by a hurricane as big as Fran in 1996??? Just curious as that was the very first hurricane that we had ever been through. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.[/b]

I suppose so, but it always depends on the setup. I still do not believe that Isabel will pose an East Coast threat, but it's a long way out. In general, NC could get another hit; although, this year, the "set up" with oceanic ridges have basically made it impossible for a storm to reach NC.
Currently, we seem to be on a 4 to 5 day interval between trough, which can be used fairly much in standard, which is why I don't believe right now that Isabel will be a problem.
To say it's likely is probably a stretch for NC...and that's a good thing--at least for me.
