Deep convection around the center of Henri for the firsttime

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Nope

Nothing to be concerned about at all. How can you even tell there IS a center? It's just a frontal low now. Shear is increasing by the minute.

Here is, in fact, what Bastardi is saying:

But saying the front is coming into it to me is not the strongest one, especially with obs like this: WGLA S 00/ 33.80/-76.90/20/40.0/29.80/ +0.01/77.0/77.2

That is a ship with the call letters WGLA at 00z located at 33.8 north and 76.9 west. The wind there is from 20 degrees sustained at 40knots!. The air temperatures is 77, water temperature 77.2.

Now let me ask you this. If you have a north wind at 40 knots and a temperature of 77, when has that not been in a tropical air mass? In any case I will continue to treat it as Henri.

It makes a compelling argument. Doesn't it?

No, it doesn't make a compelling argument. Of course a ship sitting in the middle of the Gulf Stream is going to have a warm temperature and high dew point - even immediately behind the cold front. But look at all the cool, dry air slipping off the mid Atlantic coast. The 40kt NNE wind is due to the increased pressure gradient behind the front.

Henri has merged with the front, it isn't tropical no mater what JB is saying. He's just sore that he twice forecast it to be a hurricane and it died.

Well, isn't that the point? It's sitting over warm water? Even over the gulf stream, dry air would push the dew point down, wouldn't it?

But look at all the cool, dry air slipping off the mid Atlantic coast:

Am I reading this right? Dew points of 62 to 72 along the coast? Around here, that's high humidity.

You're probably right...

Based on that snip, no.

If there is a center, I can't find it...anyone else???
If it is not a tropical CYCLONE, it is not classified.
I know there was a 40k report over warm water, so it's a cyclone?

Quoting the Eagles:

Get over it
Get over it
All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit
Get over it, get over it

Get over it
Get over it
It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit
Get over it, get over it.

It ain't a hurricane, a tropical storm, or a TD. Get over it, Joe.

A low-level center is a minor detail you know.

I guess I shouldn't talk more here because I'm not a professional met. Right, Scott?

But, of course, I can't help myself!

I still feel that if a system is causing gale weather along the coast or an island, NHC should at least keep mentioning it.

It seems that everytime, JB is wrong, people who don't like him, like to use that to diminish him but not give him any credit when he's right. Like no other met has been wrong before. That doesn't make him overrated. He was right about the movement of the system that it will hang around of the east coast and while there were many forecasts that it will just go to sea. He also predicted that Isabell would be a major hurricane, several days before it was first classified as a TS.

But I don't want to start another debate about JB.
