Some NICE Satellite Pics of Isabel and Maemi

A couple of nice MODIS images of Isabel and Maemi:

Here's the 1K Isabel image. Check out the 250 meter image and note how the low-level center is offset to the lower left of the eye center at the top of the storm. This is because the satellite's perspective is from southwest of the storm. That's why you don't place the center of a hurricane at the center of the top part of the eye:

Now look at Maemi in the Pacific. Knowing that the satellite position is southeast of the storm, the center at the surface is in the southeast part of the eye:

In keeping with your sig file, it was refreshing to see Mr Stewart practice something that is usually sorely missing from the TPD discussions.

those are great comparative pics (both are a 1px=1km) Spooky. Lets just hope that Issy doens't tighten up like maemi
