model question

#1 Postby nickd » Thu Sep 11, 2003 9:32 am

Can it be possible that the models are seeing the weakness in the ridge and actually overdoing that? I think we all agree that there will be a weakness in the ridge. The next question is will the ridge rebuild and force Isadore westward? Can it be possible that the models are over doing the weakness and not calculating the rebuilding of the ridge? Two more questions, what do the models initialize Isadore as in the latest runs and which model has been the best so far?

I am no expert, but I will attempt an answer to your questions.

Can it be possible that the models are seeing the weakness in the ridge and actually overdoing that?

Yes, it is possible.

The next question is will the ridge rebuild and force Isadore westward?

It very well could do just that.

Can it be possible that the models are over doing the weakness and not calculating the rebuilding of the ridge?

Computer models are not perfect, and there are certainly times when they overdo and underdo things - especially more than a few days out. So yes.

Two more questions, what do the models initialize Isadore as in the latest runs and which model has been the best so far?

Not sure, maybe someone else can answer these.
