As I like many other nervous Floridians watch Isabel this evening I have many things going through my head but the closer she gets.. the more and more I get a sick feeling this would be a Florida event..
Yes there is a trough/cold front that could swoop down and force her away.. and then make her the Carolina's problem or a fish. But as the saying goes, it only takes 1. I have a sick feeling Isabel is that 1.
So many nightmarish scenarios I think about could be happening in the next few days..
If it decides to go to South Florida, there could be gridlock for multiple hours on the 7 mile bridge...
Or if it hits Central Florida, US 1, or I-95 or the Merritt Island Causeway could all be blocked.. I believe the Merritt Island causeway is the main way out of the barrier islands...
I-4 would have bumper to bumper traffic plus hundreds of thousands of evacuees.. There are all kinds of nasty things going through my mind now. I hope they don't pan out.. But the way this thing is moving, compared with how strong she is.. as well as Central Florida's luck running out regarding major storms makes me wonder...
{nervously awaiting Isabel's potential arrival}
Some thoughts on Isabel
