Just because the nearest point on the continental US to Isabel appears to be Miami, I decided to do some arrival time calculations based on the relatively unlikely occurrence that Isidore will find the shortest route to the mainland. Miami would seem to be the earliest possible mainland landfall for the storm in terms of time.
By using a distance calculator and inputting the 11 a.m. location of the storm and the latitude/longitude of Miami, I found that the straight line distance was approximately 2325 kilometers, which converts to 1445 miles.
So I came up with this table, based on average storm speed in miles per hour, to determine approximate Miami arrival times depending on the speed.
MPH - Date & time
6 - Monday 9/22, 2 p.m. EDT
7 - Sunday 9/21, 3 a.m.
8 - Saturday 9/20, 2 a.m.
9 - Friday 9/19, 6 a.m.
10 - Thursday 9/18, 2 p.m.
11 - Thursday 9/18, 12 a.m.
12 - Wednesday 9/17, 1 p.m.
13 - Wednesday 9/17, 4 a.m.
14 - Tuesday 9/16, 8 p.m.

For me here in South Florida I am not so concerned about Isabel as much as I was say 2 days ago. I wanna see proof first. For the past several years we have had hurricanes that come so close and then turn up to Carolina at the last minute which kinda makes people care a bit less when they see this stuff.

I merely posted this as a reference, and in no way intended for this to indicate that I believe Isabel is headed for SoFla.
Partly I wanted to show the dramatic effect that different speeds can have on arrival times, and partly I posted to remind people that they need to allow themselves enough time to be ready or run if it heads their way.
