I know the forum section is talkin' tropics, but you did say weather event, so here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khoQY_SSHmE Not too often you see a Doppler radar and forecast and advisories like this for Orlando! Pretty memorable.

I worked that event. It was amazingly well-forecast by the model guidance several days out, which allowed us to put winter type precipitation (snow, sleet) into the actual public forecasts a few days in advance (an extreme rarity for east central Florida) as opposed to just discussing the possibility in AFDs. Moreover, I issued the actual Freezing Rain Advisory, after sporadic reports of it started coming in from our northern counties (generally north/west of I-4). I still have a copy of the text to this day, as it's the only advisory of its type ever issued by our office, and may be for some time after I eventually retire (assuming that one day I do just that - LOL)! To my knowledge, a Freezing Rain Advisory has never been issued by any of the Florida NWS offices for an area this far south. It's certainly possible that one could have been issued for north Florida at one point in time, by either the old Miami NWSFO (pre-modernization), or by one of the current forecast offices that cover that area (Mobile AL, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville).

Here's the interview I did with Florida News 13 prior to the event!! :-) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=160028544008992

Sweet thanks AJC3 for posting your interview, it is interesting to actually see details of the process that goes into making such decisions.
