Welcome to the board Susan! If we can do anything to help you find some information please ask. Make sure you get ready for Isabel. She looks to be heading that way and she has a real attitude!

Hi Susan....have a great friend at Capitol Weather Consultants in Baltimore, but I live a whole lot of miles west and south...in Phoenix.

Nice to have you aboard. Isabel is teaching a lot of things to the class right now...and will be doing so for much of the week.

Hang in there with us.

I live just 15 minutes away in the Essex area. Not far at all. Welcome to S2K!!! Great to see you.

Keep a close eye on Isabel on Thursday. We could potentially and I'll esphasize the word "POTENTIALLY" see a direct hit in the Baltimore metro area. With Towson being north of the city and Essex east of there and Severna Park to the south, I think we all in the Baltimore area and throughout the mid atlantic need to keep a vigilant eye on this. The pattern favors a US landfall.

A high pressure ridge with a clockwise flow around the high is centered just east of new england. That is blocking this hurricane from moving out to sea as most hurricanes would do. So the track takes the center towards North Carolinas outer banks late Wednesday night with 125 mph winds. Virginia Beach gets slammed Thursday morning with 115-120 mph winds. Southern Maryland gets slammed at 8 PM Thursday with winds close to 100 mph. The timing maybe sooner than that, more like during the day Thursday for Maryland. Isabel could still remain a hurricane over Baltimore late in the day Thursday into early Friday with winds sustained at 80 mph with higher gusts potentially. This could change and we'll monitor this carefully throughout the week.

Stay safe everyone!!!! Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst!!

Jim
