The Virginia Veterans Hospital is being EVACUATED....

It's located in Hampton Roads, right outside Norfolk. This was on The Weather Channel.

Other news bits...there is insufficient time to get the Fleet out of Norfolk.
Langley may move its' 55-60 planes to Grissom in IN Wednesday morning.
Va Beach decides on evac plans Tue at 10AM. That is very late, IMO; it should be on morning drive news. They won't know much more at 10A than they would at 6AM.

I always thought they would be safer in the hospitals? Is this particular VA hospital in danger of storm surge?

Hospital safety depends on location, construction of building, and emergency power supply.

Yeah--the hospital is right near the Chesapeake Bay, not taking any chances!

Hospital comment directed at locations near storm surge or with limited power generation. Buildings with inability to sustain C4 winds also usually evac.

In this case, nearly can spit into the Bay.

(My cousin's wife is a nurse in charleston, SC and stayed in the hospital downtown during Hugo. To this day she claims that was the closest to Hell one wants to go).
