???? I know nothing...Someone give me some info LOL

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

???? I know nothing...Someone give me some info LOL

Hi all again...I know you are all busy looking at maps etc. I have seen all the maps...none of them make ANY sense to me LOL. All I know is this: I don't live on the coast, therefore, I (personally) am not worrying about storm surge. But, I do live about 175 miles inland, and all the maps, from what I can see, still predict the storm to be heading right over top of my area. When it was a cat 3, we were supposedly expecting to have a couple hours of winds up to 100 mph here, and quite a few hours of winds up to 75 mph. I guess that might not sound too bad for people that are used to hurricanes but here in our area, I seriously doubt that we are prepared for that kind of thing. Regardless... I have been making plans to stay at a hotel on Thursday night because of the predictions of the strong winds (our house is made of straw and we have big trees around us). Do you guys still think thats necessary, given that everyone pretty much thinks that this storm is really weakening? If it does make landfall as a cat 2, will my area still be facing these really strong winds?
I guess basically what I"m saying is...I've never been through this, and although I can respect how dangerous they are, it was a *little* exciting to think that we might be getting this weather in my area. Now....it seems like its basically all over for us....being this far inland, and the expecting the storm to basically (according to some people) fizzle out, I'm starting to think that we may not get ANYTHING from Isabel. Yeah, some 25mph winds maybe..we get that here all the time, so that doesn't bother me. AM I going to be seeing strong effects from this storm, at the weakening that its doing? Please don't take this post the wrong way, I am by NO means downplaying the forecast or the strength of ANY hurricane. I guess that in the past, when a hurricane hits the coast, it hits the COAST...its never been forecast to hit US since I've been here....is that still a possibility?

Continue your preparations. If Isabel turns out to be nothing more than hype, that's probably the best news you can have at this point. Better safe than sorry.

There's still a possibility Isabel reorganizes some before landfall and also note: Isabel is expected to accelerate after landfall in which although the winds will weaken after landfall, the accelerated forward speed means the inland winds reach further inland before they wind down. Even 50 mph winds can cause a great deal of damage and still those can knock out power quite easily. You absolutely do not want to be caught offguard, period.

Hope this answers your question.
