New eye starting to form?

#1 Postby vortex100 » Tue Sep 16, 2003 2:46 pm

Good corkscrew action seen on visible into the center of the storm. IR pic

is showing some cold cloud tops wrapping around a warm center. Is this the beginning of a new eye?

Possibly Robert....the pressure has seemingly stabilized at 959 mb, and outflow pattern looks good. I expect significant intensification before landfall...back to a strong category 3 hurricane.

Actually, it looks a bit healthier to me on the visible loop. Although I really can't see the eye on that loop.

I did say there was good "corkscrew" action into the center on the visible pic. I was more keying on the colder cloud tops forming around the center. As the rotation intensifies, the flow into the center of the storm will force the higher, colder cloud tops away from the center. If the rotation continues to increase, the lower, warmer clouds will also be forced from the center and an eye will form. This can take days, if it ever happens, or hours if the storm intensifies rapidly enough.

No eye as of yet but things are getting tighter around the center. If it closes off, boom, you will get an eye. She is really trying to reorganize and do not be surprised when she is looking back at us.
