Surface low pressure and winds..
Look at the 500mb MM5 run ... the shear is just about to be a memory.

I don't think it'll be THAT far south, but the implications that the MM5 are depicting ... are frightening in regards to that rapid intensification just before landfall (what I'm afraid of...)

Man, I hope not. Folks here in Charlotte are totally disregarding this. And that loop puts her way to close to us...

I have only lived here a couple of years but I have read a lot about what Hugo did to Charlotte back in 1989. 99 mph wind gusts and lots of damage. Of course Charlotte has grown a lot in 14 years and several people who live here now did not live here then. I'm still a little unsure of it coming this close, but you never know and it never hurts to keep an eye on it and be prepared.

Williamston, NC -- that would be me! Yikes!

I agree JQ. I don't think we will get a direct hit, but if the model above was correct then we would definitely get more wind and rain than we are prepared for. Right now we have a 50% chance of showers with ~ 20 - 25 mph winds, the above scenario would imply stronger winds, but we would still be in the NE quadrant. I think you guys in RDU are in for more of a beating than we are.

Here at State
You know, when you don't own a home and your apartment won't get flooded, this is kind of exciting. But I feel for all of you who have a lot of worrying to do.
