A reminder of what we are dealing with here...

At 8 a.m. AST Isabel's location was reported as 29.4N 72.2W. I did an observation search at the National Data Buoy Center site for any reports within 300 nautical miles of that location.

A ship report (ZIPR7) at 1200 GMT from 31.2N 67.8W indicated that they were experiencing 46 knot winds (53 mph).

That location is 254 nautical miles (292 statute miles) NNE of the center of Hurricane Isabel! That is a LONG way from the center!
