Alas, Many Are Stupid

#21 Postby Persepone » Wed Sep 17, 2003 12:28 pm

Many are stupid--but more would stay off the beaches and would leave shoreline homes if they realized the danger that they pose to others--namely the police, fire, etc. who endanger their own lives to save the stupid from their stupidity!

The broadcasters who make it seem like it is less of a big deal than it is may not realize their perspective is very different from that of the general public. Or perhaps they are just "disappointed" in some way... If, however, they were to remind the stupid that they are endangering the lives of the police, firemen, etc. perhaps that would get some more of the idiots out of harm's way.

Long range: I think insurance companies should consider giving "credit" to people who did take steps to avoid property damage and putting themselves in harm's way &/or penalize those who do not. If you leave your lawn furniture out in a hurricane, you should not be allowed to collect for it, for example. If all your cars are in the evacuation zone and are a "loss," perhaps you should not collect for them since you did not evacuate as ordered--and so forth. That might make more people heed the warnings.

Perhaps they should order all those who remain to use indelible ink to write their identification information on their bodies so that when they are washed up on shore they won't waste tax dollars getting sorted out--and they should be told that the police, etc. will NOT try to rescue them at the last minute. That might give some of them pause...

And then there are the few weathercasters who are out where they should not be...Some of them do not set very good examples...

I forget where this is but somewhere on the Outer Banks, they planned on asking all who are staying for their next of kin!

It's only images hosted on the Storm2K server (for example, avatars-- and smilies, though they are small) that count here.
Just post links please..thanks!!

Anyone know what the Tide data is for the projected landfall area?

I saw somewhere that high tide thursday was about 1pm, with a "high" +3.8 ft. ?
