Understanding Isabel's movement, etc., our discussions here

#1 Postby ColdFront77 » Wed Sep 17, 2003 11:52 am

I get very annoyed when I bring something up for discussion, especially in the Storm2K Chatroom, knowing full well why certain things occur in the tropics, including movement and development of tropical cyclones.

The current storm, Isabel and my comments and questions about "her" movement is at issue at the moment. There is no reason at all that I would not believe in the National Hurricane Center's official forecast track. I have been following the weather, including the tropics for nearly 20 years and understand full well why weather systems move in relation to other weather systems.

There is nothing like coming here to correspond with others interested in meteorology for someone like myself who would be a meteorologist at this time if I was able and willing to go to college to get my meteorology degree. We are all different and do and don't do things for a reason.

In order to discuss things we have to bring things on the table. Other weather systems were around tropical systems in the past they moved "in a different direction" because other weather systems at other levels of the atmosphere caused them to move that way.

We come here for discussion about the tropics, other meteorological topics and off topic issues for discussion which I extremely enjoy.

The majority of the Storm2K members are great, there are few that either don't know where I am coming from or for some reason or another think I shouldn't bring things up for discussion.

I apologize for putting this on the board, but it has been on my mind over the last several days to even weeks.

I thank you very much for taking the time to hear me out.

We all need to be a little more tolerant of each other, especially in tense times such as these when some of us or our friends may be in harms way.

However, I will state plain and simple, as a moderator on this site, that ALL DISCUSSIONS HERE OR IN THE CHAT ROOM MUST BE RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIBLE. NO EXPECPTIONS, AMATUER OR PRO. It is quite easy to state a difference of opinion with someone without using any rudeness or name calling of any kind. Know when to drop the argument and agree to disagree. Most of our posters prove that over and over each day. Some will never learn and will continue to suffer the consequences of such behavior. 'nuff said!!

I don't know about more eloquent-but it is definitely to the point!! I am sure some will find it rude. I'm sorry if they do. But, that is how it is here, plain and simple.

Go David!!!! keep it warm till I get back  But seriously I agree..If a debate gets heated drop the subject. There is no reason for everyone not to treat each other with respect and dignity  Sometimes it's easier to just walk away or in this case hit refresh!! Just my two cents :)
