Wet West Side of Isabel Moves In...

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Thu Sep 18, 2003 12:52 am

Looks like Isabel is a large, wet storm from this view...You guys in this storms path are in for some really nasty weather! http://www.srh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p ... kltx.shtml I hope many of you don't lose power, cable tv, or internet until the last minute! That's the worst--then boredom sets in! If it isn't too late....if you are in the path of this storm and you live, even up towards NY State in central Pennsylvania--may I strongly recommend you make sure you have batteries for your battery operated radio. If you have a store nearby, I would suggest a great noaa weather radio that has AM/FM and local television (for listening only) that is available at Super-Walmart. I have one here in New Orleans--and when these storms knock out power, I'm always very happy to have the thing. Not to be a bearer of bad news--but tomorrow, many will lose power for two or three days--I hope you are prepared, at this point! Good luck! If you need any other suggestions, and you haven't been through one of these, feel free to email me--I've been through loads and loads of the things. These days, it's great, because you can watch the storm on radar, all the way until it knocks on your door! Many people will tell you about necessary things you need to do, but, to be honest, the most important to me (other than the necessities) is to think ahead of how you plan on handling the boredom, and what you can and will do when you are cut-off from the rest of the world for an extended period. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm trying to give you a good, sensible piece of advice! Take care, again!

Here's a simple website from a local television affiliate here in New Orleans that is pretty informative about live conditions, if you would like to monitor the storm over the next day: http://www.instaweather.com/WWL/default ... 7&map=east To view, you have to do register some brief information, but it's just the normal, small info they all want.
