Winds gust to 48mph in last 15 minutes with very heavy band over my area and to north but dry slot moving in now and having calmest weather since around 4pm. Sustained in 30-35 range for last 2 hours and 2.35" rain so far. Lots of power outages and good number of trees down. What is in store for us, any thoughts. Thanks

53, Isabel is winding down fairly slowly...although, you have the dry slot now, you've got a ways to go and heavy rains and continued gusty winds ... maybe some gusts in excess of 60 mph ... and possibly up to 5" ...

The worse should be passing through this evening into tonight and be done with by tomorrow morning as this hurricane has continued to pick up speed towards the NW................Still be carefull as there is still the threat of tornadoes through the early AM hours 53........................The thing is as you well know is getting the center of Isabel passed your area..............Which right now it appears you are in a dry slot which may last another 5 minutes or so.................Yep look out to your east!................It wouldnt suprise me in the least bit to see some wind gust up to 60mph when those bands to the south of you get up your way which is closer to the center of Isabel..................Hopefully not many more trees will come down tonight especially near the beltway or any of the other major highways......................Lots of trees lines those roadways around DC..........Same could be said for some of the metro rail lines.......................BTW my mother told me they closed the Bay Bridge??? Have you heard of any other reports around PG County or even OC for that matter?
