I say 4, maybe 5 though. In 6 of the last 8 years there have been 4-6 named storms and at least 1 major hurricane that formed after Sept. 23.

Oh, and Rainband - one of them has your area written all over it. :o

That would be in agreement with Dr. Gray's forecast but I find it hard to believe that so many more systems will form before the season closes.

I voted 2 in the poll.

Of course, time will tell.

I went with 4 ... obviously if my seasonal totals in my signature were to verify in regards to number of storms for the season (13) ... the number of hurricanes are in jeopardy but one more major is well within reason, IMO. (Unless end of season and best track post-analysis upgrades Erika to hurricane status, and IMO, it could be a probability ...)

I say 2 more named storms will form, which would bring the total to 11 - one more than I had predicted at the start of the season.

Well it has to be 6 for pre-season numbers to come close to verification. In fact if all my numbers verify we are in for one of the worst late seasons on record!!

The numbers I put out before the official start of the season weren't based on too much. I only figured my prediction from those that gave their forecast before me. There isn't much for me (I would hope most of us, no offense) to figure out before June 1st.

Ana forming so early, thus I am not surprised that we are already about to have the "J" named storm. There can easily have a few more before the season ends.
