Developing Juan allows Td16/Kate to move more north

#1 Postby Stormchaser16 » Thu Sep 25, 2003 8:39 pm

As Juan becomes better organized, it is cutting quickly away at the ridge in the Atlantic that would otherwise push Td16 further to the West. 24 Hours ago there was a pretty strong Bermuda high still in place, thus keeping the week wave further south. However there is now virtually no high pressure in place to push the system west. I expect Td16 to continue to move wnw at a fair speed and then more NW. What is expected to become Kate should not affect the islands as they should dodge another bullet. Further intesification to near hurricane strength in a few days is possible with Td16 however it will encounter trouble along the way and further down the road as it makes it trek more north it could lose strength.

As for Juan himself, Bermuda will feel some affects from him, as he strengthens and heads off to the NNW. It wont be near Fabian strength when it passes by but nonetheless Bermuda residents need to monitor ther situation. Further along the road, Juan could become a problem for the Newfoundland area possibly making a direct hit somewhere along the southern newfoundland coast. Juan is expected to be moving very quickly and will be becominbg extratropical, however it wills till be an organized tropical cyclone with possible 50-60 mph winds when it moves by. Interests in that area should monitor the situation closely.
