Major Trough producing very strong westerly winds...

#1 Postby Coriolis2003 » Sat Sep 27, 2003 10:49 am

will probably not allow any major development of this system. It appears as though these westerly winds are getting stronger and shifting further south into the GOM. By the way, I experience Kate in 1985 and we certainly don't have to worry about a Cat 3 in the eastern GOM from this system. ENJOY the college football weather and the cooler temps.

I certainly hope a lot of rainfall is in the forecast for S. Florida and I really don't wish a major flooding event. But if developers and and S. Florida municipalities are complaining about a future shortfall in water supply but are not willing to control development, then heavy rainfall is the only solution to aquifer replenishment.

Dr. Steve Lyons said he didn't anticipate development from this one either, though they will keep monitoring it. It only has a a 12 hour window that he sees for development before the coldfront wisks it out to sea.

I say that system south of the D.R. has a better chance of developing in the future.

Perhaps nothing more then a rain event for South Florida.

This system, located in the northwestern Caribbean has remained in a favorable environment and pressure has continued to gradually fall in the area for the last few days.

As the system moves into the Gulf of Mexico, the upper level wind shear may not be the same as it is now. So the chances of further development exists.
