The latest from Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/data/JSJ/HWOSJU

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/radar/loop/DS.p ... tjua.shtml

No relieve on this massive flooding situation is in sight for PR and the VI until late friday so more inches of rain on top of what already it has fallen.Many schools haved been closed today in the most problematic areas and some of them haved been converted as a refuge place for hundreds of families (over 300) that are there going away from the flooded areas

In 5 days of rains in Puerto Rico already we haved seen rainfall totals compared to hurricanes like Hortense and Georges.

Patillas= 21.60 inches
Naguabo=18.30 inches
Fajardo=17.00 inches

Other places has seen similar totals but I dont have them now but later I can post them as I get more information however when you look at those rainfall totals you have the idea how is the situation of the flooding event here.Any of the members from PR who may have rainfall totals you can report those here.

The blob is sitting right on top of Puerto Rico. Looks like you guys are getting pounded pretty good right now.

I continue to hope and pray that the flood-ravaged areas in Puerto Rico will get some relief soon (i.e. sunshine).

Cycloneye, we actually saw something resembling the sun awhile ago, but it's gone now. People are out and about, grateful for a moment of dryness. We've had no rain for the last few hours, though looking at the sky and the radar, I have a feeling that is about to end. If it stays dry a couple more hours, a friend and I are going to do a road check up in the hills. We needed to find a 4 wheel drive first!

caribepr if there is good news about what has transpired in Puerto Rico and the VI is that it wont develop into a cyclone but I consider that we haved been affected by a tropical storm without wind because of the 20+ inches already in some places.Here in San Juan no sun trying to come out.

Cycloneye, I think you are totally correct.
no wind maybe, but this sytem is just as bad as a tropical storm,
and has equally devastating effects.
I hope it will soon be out of the area!
