Tropical Update: 31 Jan

:rarrow: 1) TC Frank (10S). Currently at 15.2S 61.7E and moving N at 2mph. Winds are 125mph. Frank is expected intensify at normal climatological rates with wind speeds of 145mph by 24hrs. Afterwards, Frank is expected to begin a weakening trend.

:rarrow: 2) TC Linda (11S). Currently at 15.0S 96.1E (160nm SSW of Cocos Islands) and moving SSE at 16mph. Winds are 50mph. Linda is expect to intensify slowly. By the 48hr expect winds of 70mph. This slow intensification is due to weak outflow and weak to moderate wind shear.

:rarrow: 3) Remnants of TC Elita (09S). Currently along the Madahascar coast and dissipating over land. Winds are 25-30mph. Due to the interaction with land, the TC Formation Alert that was issued by the JTWC has been cancelled. Furthermore, Elita's potential of development has been downgraded to 'poor.'

Wow, a lot has changed. Now, Elita is back to Tropical Cyclone status, and forecasted to reach Cyclone strength.

Roger -- Elita's back!

:rarrow: TC Elita (09S). Currently at 20.6S 44.4E (170nm WSW of Antananarivo, Madagascar) and moving WNW at 14mph. Winds are 40mph. Elita is just inland, but is forecast to drift over the warm waters of the Mozambique Channel. Once this occur, intensification should resume at normal or above normal rates under good outflow. In 48hrs, Elita is forecast to be a 100mph cyclone.
