A radar site has to go up somewhere over Haiti or D.R. to warn these people so this won't be so devasting.

nice thought boca but not realistic unfortunately
the areas that have been hit so hard are very remote..Many of those villages might not even have regular supplies of electricity under normal conditions.
communication is extremely difficult.
It is so very sad.

Msbee you can't be more right. I have been in these areas in both countries and they are very remote, they live in conditions similar to what we have 70 or 80 yrs ago. Here in the island there's a big collection effort of medicines, canned foods and other items to later on be sent to them for assistance. Let's see how the local authorities will react to prevent this tragedy from happening again. :(
