Don't We Love Local TV Mets......NOT

#1 Postby KatDaddy » Fri Jul 09, 2004 10:45 pm

Sorry to vent but it must be done.

Our local Channel 13 Met in Houston said we must watch the low pressure moving off the Yucatan into the GOM.

This is just crazy and incorrect. Wow much of the population gets their forecasts through TV Mets that have no real clue........well not all. Many TV Mets do know what is really going on and how serious weather can be.
Take Norcross for example as well as Dr Neil here in Houston...on Channel 11 not 13. However in their defense perhaps they forecast to an average level of the population that is clueless when it comes to weather. A scary thought indeed. When it comes to weather I want Norcross or Neil Frank forecasting the weather.

Perhaps we should start a thread for all local TV Mets that are for real and take weather very serious to show our appreciation.

Vent off and good evening.........much tropical excitement just up the road :D :D :D

Hey Kat, I saw that too earlier... The channel 11 guy said to watch the stuff in the GOM and its a good time to go get your hurricane tracking charts... The met on Ch 2 said its just tropical moisture, nothing is going to develop, and we might get some rain on Saunday from it... no biggie...

NOGAPS still takes it into Mexico. If NOGAPS pans out then Texas will get some rain but the meat of the "system" will be to the south  Some OCM's are really accurate and some love the hype.

I watched Dr. Frank overplay Lili and it really upset me. The storm had already turned and Frank told the audience (6 hours after the forecasted turn occured) that it had not turned yet and was still heading towards us....we were still waiting for the turn but it hadn't happened yet. I came unglued. You could see on HIS satellite loop that it was moving towards Lake Charles and that it had begun the turn that would eventually take it into cntl LA.

Pretty sad.
