Landfall possible on 97L

I think it could develop and take a similar path or somewhat further south. Big trough in the east going away late this week followed by a big high. Definitely a chance for land hit.

Then why not the topic header as 'Landfall possible' as opposed to the alarming andrew reference. This is a tropical wave which may (or may not) have a low level circulation to it. Minimal depression if anything at this moment. Lets wait till it becomes a he before we get too concerned.

I believe reference to Andrew is at least a far stretch considering its not even a td yet. :grr:

Sure it is.

1. Andrew was sheared by a huge upper low in late August
2. Andrew developed in the eastern Atlantic and tracked all the way across the atlantic as a named storm
3. Andrew turned north and spared the Islands

Wait...

It's July. There is no shearing. This is not even a depression, and it's going into the southern Windwards.

Upon further review this system is nothing like Andrew.

No problem =) Its not anything personal, just an observation. Its really easy to get excited about these things without noticing how different they are from past storms.

This thing at the moment is moving way to fast to even sustain an LLC let alone become a cyclone.

I don't think anyone was offended...hyping a system is nothing new and just about anyone who posts will hype a storm from time to time.

Could this system do what Andrew did? Probably not...but we're getting to the time of year where everything will have that potential. Is it anything like Andrew in terms of lifecycle so far...no.
