No 0Z models?

#1 Postby hurricanetrack » Mon Jul 19, 2004 9:33 pm

So what's the deal? No 0Z models from the NHC and GFDL on 97L? That's a bummer.

For the time being this system may have missed its chance for development. Now maybe wednesday when it gets into the central caribbean thats when it might have another chance to develop.

Too early for the GFDL. Generally it's 3 hours behind the Zulu run time.
It's also a possibility the model "lost" the storm.

The model doesn't cause a run not to occur.

I believe he means no NHC models (BAMD, etc.)

A human makes the decision to run those (And GFDL as well.)

NHC decided there was no LLC and hence no reason to run the models.

Models

That's right Derecho- I was talking about the in house NHC models- the BAMs etc.

I figured the system looked unimpressive- so no models needed to be run. But, I thought I would check that theory here just to make sure.

Interesting to note too at this late hour that the newest operational GFS does not "like" the system- still.

We might be waiting for a bit longer....

Yep.

There's no 06Z runs either b/c there's nothing there to initialize. By the time one gets to late July, there's always a shot a piece comes through south of the Islands, but there's no evidence of that happening right now.
