Something at the Surface?

#1 Postby MWatkins » Tue Jul 20, 2004 11:21 am

For the first time there is an indication that there is some forcing going on at the surface. Sheared...yes...but note the strong...symetrical ball of deep convection that just pops in the last few frames.

It's warming now...but it takes work to force something like that up.

That's noteworthy mW. Its pulsing near the apex of this thing. With the transfer of energy you expect some warming of the cloudtops. If conditions were better....boom.

Definitely takes something to push that, especially approaching the Caribbean death trap. Try as I might, I still can't pick up a LLCC. That doesn't mean there isn't a small one hidden under the convection. Want to watch this closely for a few more hours(well actually till its' total demise or exiting from AOI). Still looks like a good possibility of a split of the wave too, which could make things interesting along the East coast, but that has a lot of obstacles to go through if it is to happen also.
