SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENT
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
215 PM EDT MON JUL 19 2004

SQUALLS ON THE LEADING EDGE OF A TROPICAL WAVE ARE APPROACHING THE SOUTHERN WINDWARD ISLANDS. AS THESE SQUALLS MOVE THROUGH THE ISLANDS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING THEY WILL LIKELY BE ACCOMPANIED BY BRIEFLY HEAVY RAINS AND WIND GUSTS TO NEAR TROPICAL STORM FORCE.
THIS SYSTEM HAS SOME POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP INTO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

It doesn't seem to indicate anymore from the 11:30 TWO that it's developing into a tropical cyclone. I think they are more so warning the islands for the heavy rains and winds.

Until TD 1 is formed, the wait continues. This system sure looks like Chantal, 2001, Isidore & Lili, 2002, & Claudette, 2003.
