TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS/TPC NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 PM EDT MON AUG 2 2004

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS ISSUING ADVISORIES ON TROPICAL
STORM ALEX...WHICH IS LOCATED ABOUT 150 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHWEST OF
WILMINGTON NORTH CAROLINA.

A WELL-ORGANIZED TROPICAL WAVE LOCATED ABOUT 800 MILES EAST OF THE
WINDWARD ISLANDS IS MOVING WESTWARD NEAR 20 MPH. THIS SYSTEM
CONTINUES TO IMPROVE...AND IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP INTO A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO.

AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...ASSOCIATED WITH ANOTHER TROPICAL WAVE...IS
LOCATED ABOUT 200 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHERNMOST CAPE
VERDE ISLANDS. COOL WATERS IMMEDIATELY AHEAD OF THIS SYSTEM MAY
LIMIT DEVELOPMENT OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
TUESDAY.
