of SC like Alex? What were those years like?

Gustav in 2002 formed just east of North Carolina, and that season saw 12 storms. Same with Gabrielle in 2001, and that had 15 storms. The last storm becoming a hurricane in that area was Bob in 1991. That year was very slow with 8 storms (including the perfect storm).

Gustav was farther east. I have to think Bob and Diana were the last 2. Interesting to note that Bob also moved by Hat as a 2, though it was 30 miles farther east; thus, it did nothing to the area. Looks as if Alex will be the weakest of the three though as the other 2 became majors
