2:30 PM EDT Storm2k Atlantic Tropical Update,August 7

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sun Aug 08, 2004 1:27 pm

Two features dominate the scene in the North Atlantic Basin this afternoon.

First is the tropical wave located some 500 miles east of the Windward islands and is accompanied by plenty of showes and thunderstorms but lacks organization although it has a weak low at around 11n.It is moving fast at around 20-25 kts and pressures are not as low as it normally they would be for this time of the year.Regardless it organizes or not the lesser antilles will recieve a dosis of copius rains and thunderstorms with some squalls embedded and the effects may last a bit longer than past waves that had traveled thru the lesser antilles chain because this one is elongated and is like a train with a line of showers extending way far east of the wave axis.

The former TD#2 now a tropical wave has flared up a little bit today near Cuba and east of the Yucatan Penninsula but development if any will be slow to occur however a little more favorable enviroment that wave may get in comming days so all interests in the Gulf coast should keep monitering the progress of this system.

Elsewhere:

No signs of organization is seen with other tropical waves one moving Northwest Southeast of Bermuda and in another tropical wave located Southwestr of the Cape Verde Islands.

A big upper trough extending from the east coast of Florida eastward thru the South of Bermuda and then extending Northeast doesn't show any signs of anything that may develop into a tropical or subtropical entity anytime soon but anytime there is a trough in the atlantic sometimes something starts to spin at the trough axis so I will be watching for that.

Tropical Storm formation is not expected thru monday.
