Bulletin...Immediate Broadcast Requested Flood Watch National Weather Service Melbourne FL 400 PM EDT Thu Aug 12 2004

...A Flood Watch Has Been Issued For All Of East Central Florida For Friday...

Hurricane Charley...Currently Approaching Western Cuba...Is Forecast To Turn Northward Overnight As It Crosses Cuba And Moves Over The Southeastern Gulf Of Mexico. The Current Forecast Has The Hurricane Making Landfall Along The West Coast Of Florida Friday Afternoon.

Numerous Rain Bands And Squalls With Torrential Rain Will Develop And Move Across East Central Florida...Especially During The Afternoon And Evening...As The Center Of Charley Moves Through The Eastern Gulf And Then Across Western And Northern Florida.

Widespread Rainfall Totals Between Three And Six Inches Are Expected Across The Area...With Locally Higher Amounts Possible. The Highest Rainfall Totals Are Expected Over Lake County...Which Will Be Closest To The Center Of The Hurricane.

The Ground Is Saturated Across Portions Of East Central Florida From Recent Heavy Rainfall. Flooding Of Many Areas Is Likely... Not Only In Urban...Low Lying And Poor Drainage Areas...But Also In Many Locations That Do Not Typically Flood.

Persons In East Central Florida Should Take Precautions To Protect Life And Property From Flooding. Remember...Do Not Drive Your Vehicle In Areas Where Water Covers The Road.
