Strange storm that Charley!!!

#1 Postby Three Blind Mice » Sat Aug 14, 2004 8:08 pm

Everyone here at the coast is commenting on how different this storm was compared to others.(we have had a few) The roar this storm had for the wind speed and the damage done just doesn't add up. Also, when the wind came there was little to no rain, even partly cloudy skies. Never saw a wind direction change.

what was this???

Bushed and got to go to sleep. More people to help Sunday.

Thanks in advance guys.

Several things, the low probably was no longer closed at the surface due to the land interaction. If you went up just 1000 ft. the winds were probably much stronger and still closed. As far as rainfall, I believe Charley began to get entrained with the dry air to his immediate west and due to that along with his fast forward speed limited the storm for you guys.
