No Eye

Center of Circulation. Yes

Once the thunderstorms wrap, we will likely have a strengthing system.

that pic is nothing more than a good shot of the LLC. The western half of the storm is void of deep thunderstorm activity. I'm thinking that has a little to do with it being close enough to land. If ti was a bit farther out over the water, there would not be as much wind coming off the land.

there is no eye forming... the low level center has been exposed... the cloud tops have either been blown off from the west side of the system, or there has been some dry air pulled in... this has a long way to go before you would see anything remotley like an "eye"... Alex did the samething though before it stared to move... this may be the sign of that about to happen...

Yes some shear is blowing the convection apart from the center.

The bad part is.

The more intense this system gets, the stronger the ridge builds in behind it and thus, forces Frances further to the west, and into the southern portion of Florida. Not good!

It just vomited out a massive "arc cloud" to the East.

That's air moving outwards at the surface. Not a sign of a strengthening storm at all....strong TCs have nothing but inflow at the surface.

You mean a outflow boundary?

Yep. Arc cloud = outflow boundary.

Looks like it did the old "suck in dry air off of land" bit.

All I see is stroms trying to wrap around the llc. I have a question, how much damage could a strong tropical storm do to eastern NC SC after we've had a couple of storms already come through this month with soggy ground and weakened trees, lines, etc?

just depends on the strength of course... if you are looking at a storng TS, well it could help to weaken tree roots and cause a few to maybe go over... If it moves as slow as they are thinking and 3-5 inches of rain, we could be looking at a possible flooding problem... And if frances comes this way on top of it, although that is starting to fade a bit, that could be Floyd type problems on top of the damage.. Debris has not been pick up completely from carley in SC and NC.. real problems are possible... Not a major problem if Gaston remains weaker and Frances stays south...

If you can't see an arc cloud that big and obvious, I suggest seeing an optometrist.
