TWC-Tropical Update was ominous!

#1 Postby caneman » Sun Aug 29, 2004 5:56 am

For the life of me I can't remember the guys name but when talking about Frances his voice was quivering, seemed very nervous. And just stated that if I lived in Florida I would be keeping a very keen eye on this system. Inidicated that Frances was trending West and that didn't bode well for the coast.

He was very nervous when talking about Frances. I thought it was my own anxiety so I'm glad that you posted your thoughts and confirmed my observations.

His voice was quivering because he was walking back to the anchor desk from his OCM position. It's really hard to walk, read and talk at the same time! Try to do it without your voice changing.

Sorry but I've never seen that on TWC before. He seemed very concerned.

If I lived in South FL, I would definitely be getting all needed supplies today and coming up with a plan. This is going to be more serious than Charley, and we've all seen what he did. Wow, Florida.......... again

Steve is so cool, upbeat, and calm. The bad news doesn't seem so bad when he gives the info. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Watches "soon" for Florida?? What's his definition of soon??

It's no wonder that the public gets confused about these storms, when the TV personalities cannot communicate the forecasts properly.

Hurricane Watches will NOT be issued for Florida until this is about 36 hours away, meaning if it makes landfall on Friday at Noon or so (HYPOTHETICAL) there would be watches Late Wednesday.

Agreed, there is very set criteria for when they issue watches and warnings. That said, if the wind field increases in size, watches could go out earlier.

Still won't be until 36 hours before the winds are progged to reach the coast.
